In traditional astrology Jupiter is known as the Greater Benefic and Venus the Lesser Benefic, which means when the two benefics meet up, it is a fortunate, auspicious and favourable moment!

In mythology Jupiter is the King of the Gods, called Zeus by the Greeks and Jupiter – or Jove – by the Romans. Jove is the origin of the word “Jovial” which originally meant someone born under the influence of Jupiter who inherited the God’s characteristics of being full of life, joyous, sociable and generous,

The Goddess of love, beauty, desire, fertility & prosperity is Aphrodite to the Greeks, and called Venus by the Romans.

The Greeks named any food, herb or substance which arouses desire and pleasure an “Aphrodisiac” in honour of Aphrodite. From the Goddess’s Roman name, Venus, comes the word “Venerate” – to worship and hold sacred.

Astrologically – Jupiter, the planet of vision, luck & abundance, is meeting up with Venus, the planet of love, beauty & values. And in essence, the words to describe the vibe is a jovial party! Upbeat and optimistic, along with a deep appreciation for the people and passions we hold sacred, merged with inspiration to focus on what we truly desire and wish to create in life.

The conjunction taking place in Cancer – the sign of Jupiter’s exaltation –  enhances the energy further, to be even more golden and potentially fruitful, as Jupiter is most big-hearted with his blessings here.

Venus, Jupiter & Cancer unite to liberate feelings of warmth, compassion, and overwhelming love. As well as stir up creative forces that could potentially expand our horizons and desire to cultivate what would contribute to our sense of satisfaction and security in life.

Cancer is associated with mothers, the womb and birth. What is more, according to ancient philosophers Cancer is ‘The Gate of Man’ through which souls descend from heaven to earth. The place we came from and return to, our spiritual origins and the creative source of life.

Cancer is an ocean of creativity, from which new ideas, visions and initiatives can emerge. Cancer blends intuition and imagination to dream up and nurture projects that nourish the soul and establish a sense of belonging. That creates a supportive shell around their emotions and anchors domestic stability for their family or chosen tribe.

This harmonious union of Venus & Jupiter in Cancer brings good fortune to family, home and property matters. Along with enthusiasm to set new initiatives afloat, and fertile waters to nourish them to abundance.

A flow of energy that also encourages seeking out and enjoying what is pleasurable and satisfying, the things that soften and sweeten life. For social and family gatherings, having fun, and enjoying meaningful connection with others.

I must also mention that on the flip side – as of course Jupiter expands everything! There is also potential for overindulging in food, drink or splashing out on something extravagant.

Jupiter, Venus and Cancer are a recipe for craving treats, comforts, and luxury – so we are more likely to just give in to temptation!

It’s an opportune time for any discussions or negotiations we wish to go our way. For asking questions and reaching mutually favourable agreements. For mindfully visualising and planning what we wish to grow in life. As Venus (magnetism) and Jupiter (opportunities/expansion) help us to attract what we desire and make progress with ease.

A wave of potential blessings that could manifest as financial opportunities, property/domestic improvements, creative breakthroughs, relationship enhancements or romantic developments.

Importantly, the good fortune that flows (perhaps seemingly effortlessly) needs to be mindfully captured and worked with to make the best of it. Venus & Jupiter can be a bit lazy, and thus catch us out, as we may feel we are on a lucky streak and become a little complacent. And we can’t expect the momentum of good vibes to just continue.

Procyon & The 4 of Cups

Which links together with another influence at this conjunction – fixed star Procyon at 26° 03′ Cancer, a star with a Mars-Mercury nature. Along with the tarot card associated with Cancer Decan III – the 4 of Cups. As together they reveal a connection between opportunities, thinking (Mercury) and doing (Mars).

The 4 of Cups reflects a time of introspection. When something is missing. Leading to an overanalysis of what has (and has not) been accomplished so far. And this inner reflection can potentially provide inner wisdom – awareness of the gift of the fourth cup floating in the clouds.

This card presents the challenge to then do something with the opportunity. To physically grasp it and apply some elbow grease to it. Leading the way to achieving personal growth and satisfaction.

Procyon heralds the rising of Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. It brings swift, sudden opportunity along with early success. But these opportunities need to be acted upon and progressed further, or they may fizzle out. Having a Mars-Mercury nature means Procyon also offers will-power and mental agility. The ability to plan, find solutions and put them into action.

So, be ready to capture any cups of lucky opportunity floating your way, and be purposeful about making the most of them.

After the Moon, Venus & Jupiter are the brightest celestial objects in the night sky, and are already making a striking and beautiful spectacle.

I love seeing the chart on my screen come alive in the sky – It’s soul-stirring! Venus & Jupiter are definitely worth making time to gaze at and ponder deeply.

Here in the UK on a clear night, Venus and Jupiter are visible just after sunset, from around 10pm and disappear from view around 11 – 11.30pm.

Love and blessings, X
